Soft-lit desk with printed feature adoption curve charts and a pencil

Reading feature adoption curves without false confidence

A sharp rise on release day often reflects announcement traffic, not lasting use. Separate first-touch exploration from repeat use within seven and thirty days.

Segment by account size and maturity. Enterprise pilots and self-serve trials adopt features on different calendars. Mixing them into one line hides both success and risk.

Annotate charts with release notes and known outages. Stakeholders misread dips that coincide with holidays or a broken onboarding step.

Pair the curve with a qualitative check: five short calls with accounts that tried the feature once and stopped. Those conversations often explain more than another chart series.

Present adoption as a short narrative: who tried it, who returned, who still cannot find it, and what you will change before the next review.
